Reuse Your Candle Jars

Don’t throw that jar away! You paid for it, so why not keep it? Here are some tips and a couple of ideas for cleaning and reusing your terranmade candle jars!

Get the wax out

1. Fill a small pot about halfway with water.

2. Place your jar #candle in the pot and use extremely low heat to warm the water and soften the wax. Note: this should also make the label easier to peel off.

3. Take your candle jar out of the pot and put it in the freezer overnight. Be careful! The glass will be super hot. Use a jar lifter or silicone pot holders to do this.

4. Take the jar out of the freezer the next day.

5. Use a metal knife (a butter knife works well) to pop the wax and wick out. Should come out in one or two pieces.

6. Hand wash the jar and the lid.

7. Reuse to your heart’s content!

Alternatively, you can use a candle warmer to get the wax where it needs to be. This one (that I just happen to have) is both a candle AND #wax warmer!

Uses

• Store cotton balls or cotton swabs in the bathroom.

• Store paper clips or other small supplies on your desk.

• Plant some herbs and place them on a window sill.

• Remove the liner from the lid. Carefully cut a slot in the lid wide enough for a coin to slide through. Tiny piggy bank!

• Put hot chocolate mix or coffee in it and pair it with a mug. BAM! Easy gift.

• Store pre-mixed spices (BBQ rubs, chili seasoning, cajun seasoning, etc.) so you don't have to do it every time you make your favorite recipe.
